• Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, seven cities experienced inflation and one city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the City of Surabaya at 0.29 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Kab. Sumenep amounted to 0.02 percent, while the only deflation was recorded in Malang City at 0.01 percent.
• Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in the index for the expenditure group. of the eleven expenditure groups, eight experienced inflation, two groups experienced deflation and one group experienced no change. Expenditure group
experiencing the highest inflation was the food and beverage / restaurant supply group at 0.92 percent, while the lowest was the food, beverage and tobacco group at 0.03 percent. There are two other expenditure groups that experienced inflation below 0.1 percent, namely clothing and footwear at 0.06 percent and the housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group at 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced deflation were the information, communication and financial services group by 0.02 percent and the personal care and other services group by 0.12 percent.
• The inflation rate for the calendar year February 2021 is 0.53 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2021 against February 2020) is 1.16 percent.
