Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.
The East Java Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) in September 2023 rose 1.91 percent from 109.10 to 111.19. The increase in NTP was caused by the price index received by farmers (It) increasing by 2.10 percent, higher than the increase in the price index paid by farmers (Ib) of 0.18 percent.
In September 2023, two agricultural subsectors experienced an increase in NTP and three other subsectors experienced a decrease in NTP. The subsector that experienced the highest increase in NTP was the Food Crops subsector by 4.85 percent from 111.36 to 116.76, followed by the Community Plantation Crops subsector by 1.63 percent from 103.07 to 104.75. Meanwhile, the subsector that experienced the highest decline in NTP was the Horticulture subsector by 5.89 percent from 113.23 to 106.56, followed by the Livestock subsector by 1.11 percent from 104.99 to 103.83, and the Fisheries subsector by 0.72 percent from 99.23 to 98.51.
Of the five provinces on the island of Java that carry out NTP calculations in September 2023, all of them will experience an increase in NTP. The highest increase in NTP was in Banten Province at 3.34 percent, followed by West Java at 2.86 percent, Central Java at 2.36 percent, Yogyakarta Special Region at 2.09 percent, and East Java at 1.91 percent.
