Abstract

• In September 2020, the level of expenditure inequality for the East Java population as measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.364. This figure is down by 0.002 points when compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2020 which was 0.366.
• The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2020 was recorded at 0.373, down from the Gini Ratio in March 2020 which was 0.377. Meanwhile, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2020 was recorded at 0.318, an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2020 which was 0.316.
• In September 2020, the distribution of expenditure for the bottom 40 percent of the population group was 19.06 percent. This means that population expenditure is in the low level of inequality category. Likewise, if broken down by region, population expenditure in both urban and rural areas is in the low level of inequality category. In urban areas the figure was 18.50 percent, and in rural areas the figure was 21.36 percent.
