In March 2021, the level of inequality in the expenditure of the population of East Java as measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.374. This figure increased by 0.010 points compared to the September 2020 Gini Ratio of 0.364.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2021 was recorded at 0.387, up from the Gini Ratio in September 2020 which was 0.373. Meanwhile, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2021 was recorded at 0.324, up from the Gini Ratio in September 2020 which was 0.318.
  • In March 2021, the distribution of expenditures for the bottom 40 percent of the population is 18.19 percent. This means that the population's expenditure is in the category of low inequality level. Likewise, if broken down by region, population expenditures in both urban and rural areas are in the category of low inequality levels. In urban areas the figure was recorded at 17.49 percent, and in rural areas the figure was recorded at 20.35 percent.
