Abstract

The number of labor force in February 2024 increased by 720.40 thousand people to 24.14 million people compared to February 2023. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 73.02 percent, an increase of 1.52 percentage points compared to the February 2023 TPAK.
The working population is 23.24 million people or an increase of 831.28 thousand people compared to February 2023. The Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sectors experienced the largest decline in the number of workers, namely a decrease of 230.73 thousand people. On the other hand, the Wholesale and Retail Trade, Car and Motorbike Repair and Maintenance sectors experienced the largest increase in the number of workers, namely an increase of 412.02 thousand people.
A total of 8.57 million people (36.88 percent) worked in formal activities, an increase of 1.42 percentage points compared to February 2023.
The proportion of full-time workers decreased by 1.99 percentage points to 62.92 percent in February 2024. However, the number of full-time workers was 14.62 million people, an increase of 78.64 thousand people compared to February 2023
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) for February 2024 was 3.74 percent or down 0.59 percentage points compared to February 2023.
Vocational High School (SMK) graduates have the highest TPT in Jawa Timur, namely 6.42 percent, followed by Senior High School (SMA) graduates who have a TPT of 4.64 percent.
