Abstract

The total workforce in August 2023 increased by 999.75 thousand people to 23.87 million people compared to August 2022. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 72.56 percent, an increase of 1.33 percentage points compared to the TPAK in August 2022.
The working population is 22.70 million people or an increase of 1.09 million people compared to August 2022. Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Sectors
experienced the largest increase in the number of workers, namely an increase of 383.10 thousand people, followed by the Processing Industry sector which increased by 230.39 thousand people and the Accommodation and Food and Drink sector increased by 213.25 thousand people.
A total of 8.37 million people (36.89 percent) worked in formal activities, an increase of 0.75 percentage points compared to August 2022. The proportion of full-time workers has increased. The number of full-time workers was 15.27 million people, an increase of 957.21 thousand people or an increase of 1.04 percentage points compared to August 2022.
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2023 was 4.88 percent or down 0.61 percentage points compared to August 2022.
Vocational High School (SMK) graduates have the highest TPT in East Java, namely 8.70 percent, followed by Senior High School (SMA) graduates who have a TPT of 7.93 percent.
