Abstract

The availability of timely and accurate agricultural data is the foundation for realizing agricultural policies that are right on target. Since 2018, BPS has collaborated with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) and the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) which have now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/ BPN), as well as the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) are trying to improve the methodology for calculating rice harvest area through the application of objective measurements by utilizing advances in information and communication technology and the availability of high resolution satellite imagery. This collaboration was realized in an activity entitled "Integrated Food Crop Agricultural Statistics Data Collection Using the Area Sample Frame (KSA) Method" or better known as the KSA survey. The implementation of the KSA Survey for rice commodities began to be implemented nationally in 2018. Field observations of the KSA Survey are carried out on the last 7 (seven) days of every month.
In January-December 2022, the number of segment samples observed in Gresik Regency was 135 segment samples. The estimated rice harvest area based on the results of the 2022 KSA Survey from January to December 2022 reached 63,287.20 hectares or an increase of 3.72 thousand hectares (3.08 percent) compared to 2021. Meanwhile, the estimated rice production in Gresik Regency from January to December 2022 will be 410,616 tons of dry milled grain (GKG) or an increase of 30.95 thousand tons (8.15 percent) compared to rice production in 2021. If converted into rice with the 2021 GKG to rice conversion figure, rice production in 2022 is estimated amounting to 237,098 tons or an increase of 17.87 thousand tons (8.15 percent) compared to rice production in 2021.
