Abstract

In September 2022, the Indonesian population's expenditure inequality level, as measured by the Gini Ratio, is 0.365. This figure decreased by 0.006 points when compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 which was 0.371 and increased by 0.001 points compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2021 which was 0.364.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2022 was recorded at 0.381, down compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 which was 0.388 and an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2021 which was 0.379.
  • The Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2022 was recorded at 0.322, down compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 which was 0.323 and an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2021 which was 0.319.
  • Based on the World Bank's measure of inequality, the distribution of expenditure in the bottom 40 percent group is 19.05 percent. This means that population spending in March-September 2022 is in the category of low inequality. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure was recorded at 18.41 percent, which means it belongs to the low inequality category. Meanwhile for rural areas, the figure was recorded at 20.73 percent, which means it belongs to the low inequality category.
